In this Season: 4 Healthy Living Tips For You

season foods

It’s another festive season in Nigeria. That time of the year when so many merry activities take place. There is weddings to attend, traditional festivals to catch up with, and the Christmas and New year celebration in the air.

As much as I have my reservations about this season, one thing I can’t deny is the surplus of different delicacies to choose from in every party you attend daily.

Now, this brings us to the question: How can I enjoy this season and still enter into the new year healthy and fit?
The following suggestions would not only give you points on how to stay healthy when there is a surplus of food, it will also help you eat healthy even on a budget and save some money and avoid debts in this recessive state of the country.

Do not gate crash

Attend only occasions you were invited to. Doing this will save you time and money. If you have to attend, apply discernment and some decency. Don’t try to eat everything on the table. Small chops, Asun, jollof rice, moi moi, semo and soup. Everything on one plate. This attitude is really not good for your waistline. That brings us to the next point.

Be selective this season

Yes, you have a choice, choose wisely.
Make healthier food choices when you attend an occasion. Remember in this season the occasions you’ll be attending is not a one-time thing, it can continue for days until the holiday ends. So instead of rice at every party you attend, why not eat salad and an animal protein(chicken or fish), ukwa (breadfruit), or a small plate of ugba.
Making healthy choices also applies to drinks also. Limit alcohol consumption.

Make healthier foods available

You might also be a host this season. Instead of going for the overly processed foreign rice, why not go for our local grown rice. It’s healthier, cheaper, more delicious, and more important, you’re helping to grow the country’s economy. No wonder the popular hashtag #BuyNigeriaGrowNigeria.
Instead of loading the cooling van with carbonated drinks and alcohol why not invest in homemade Chapman, zobo, kunu and smoothies. Instead of serving small chops, you serve some delicious non-salted crackers biscuits. People will find your party unique and enjoyable.

Dance Dance Dance

This is how most parties end. Use this opportunity wisely. Be the life of the party and dance off any excess calorie.
You’re multitasking in the process. You’re burning calories, your entertaining others, and you’re having a good time! lol…(by the way, there’s a dietary supplement that gives you great vitality and muscle recovery like this lady up here 🙂 Check it out.

Enjoy the season
One love!
